About Us

SAPC is an umbrella organization that consists of and represents groups of South African psychotherapists. The clinical work of these therapists is informed by psychoanalytic theory. It might appear to the public that much of the work of psychoanalytic psychotherapists happens with patients and clients behind closed doors. However, this is not really true. Many of these therapists are very active in working in a range of different communities, doing outreach work and consulting with organizations. Being part of SAPC enables these therapists to share clinical ideas and knowledge. Psychoanalytic Voice is SAPC’s attempt to include, involve and engage with other psychotherapists and the general public.
